The Hulk is a superhero created by Sam Lee and Jack Kirby for Marvel Comics. He had his first appearance in his own comic book The Incredible Hulk # 1 in 1962. The Hulk is actually a large green mutation that lives inside the physically weak, socially withdrawn but very intelligent physicist Bruce Banner. When Bruce Banner is exposed to gamma rays from an experimental bomb, he undergoes a mutation. This causes him to turn into the green monster Hulk when he is exposed to emotional stress.
The Hulk and Bruce Banner are thus two independent dissociative personalities who live in the same body but who also hate each other.
