What is a longline T-shirt? Length, fit and styling explained
Longline is about length – not simply wearing a larger T-shirt. Here we explain the difference between longline, long fit and oversized and how to choose a longer tee with the right proportions.
A longline T-shirt is essentially a tee with a longer body than a standard cut. The hem sits lower over the hips and may be straight, curved or longer at the back.

What does longline T-shirt mean?
Longline means the T-shirt is longer than a standard tee. The key difference is vertical length. A longline tee can still be slim, regular or relaxed through the body.
Longline, long fit and oversized – what is the difference?
Longline
Extra length is the main feature. Width can still be regular or slim.
Long fit
Often used for the same idea: a T-shirt with a longer body.
Oversized
Primarily describes extra width, volume and often dropped shoulders.
Straight, curved or dropped hem?
The hem shape changes the silhouette. A straight hem gives a clean finish, while a curved or asymmetric hem creates more length in specific areas.
How long should a longline T-shirt be?
There is no single correct measurement. Compare the garment length with a T-shirt you already own. If your regular tee is 74 cm and the new one is 80 cm, you get roughly 6 cm of extra length from the same measuring point.
Longline T-shirts for women
Women's styles are often described as long T-shirts, long tops or longline tees. The principle is the same: extra length without automatically adding extra width.

Longline T-shirts for men
For men, longline is strongly linked to streetwear, but the fit does not have to be oversized. A straight or fitted long tee can add length without adding width.

How to style longline without looking like the wrong size
The extra length should look intentional. Let the hem show under a shorter jacket, overshirt or hoodie. Pair it with cargo trousers, jeans or slimmer trousers depending on how much volume you want in the rest of the outfit.
