Official merchandise from Moonshiners

In the documentary drama Moonshiners, a whole bunch of guys who hide in the woods make the legendary white whiskey - Moonshine. A self-distilled spirit made from corn kernels.

As a store with the name Dunken.se, it makes sense to be able to offer a wide range of merchandise from this wonderful TV series. Here you will find everything from comfortable hoodies, sweatshirts, longsleeves and T-shirts.

The prints from Moonshiners are available both as simple logos and a little more humorous prints such as "Ain't nothin 'illegal until you get caught". One of all the classic quotes from the TV series.

All our merchandise from Moonshiners is of course official licensed merchandise. They do not come from any illegal production in the forest.

Moonshiners as a TV series

For those who know what Moonshine is from before, the name immediately reveals what the TV series is about. Nor is it a major shock that it is in the forests of the northern parts of the United States that these washable hillbillys produce their spirits. The definition of a hillbilly is a person who lives in remote, rural mountain areas and then especially in the Appalachians. Another stereotype of hillbilly is that it is a poor, uneducated person who likes to drink a little too much alcohol and who spends his life hunting and burning home-burned.

So in the TV series Moonshiners, we really get to follow exactly what is seen as hillbilly. Guys in the Appalachians who burn their own alcohol in the woods and in constant struggle to escape the law's long arm. During the TV series' 9 seasons, we get to follow different Moonshiners who conduct their home burning in different areas. What they have in common is that they hide in the mountain system of the Appalachians' tangled forests, they distill their own Moonshine and they live in constant fear of being caught.

Popcorn Sutton - Moonshiners original

During the first season of Moonshiners, we get to follow the now legendary moonshiner Marvin "Popcorn" Sutton. Parts of the first season with Marvin "Popcorn" Sutton were taken from a documentary where the documentary filmmaker Neal Hucheson followed the now deceased hillbilly. The documentary was filmed and released in 2002 and is called This is the "Last Dam Run of Likker I'll Ever Make".

In 2007, Sutton was arrested by police and convicted of illegally distilling alcohol and possessing an illegal weapon. He was sentenced in 2009 to 18 months in prison. A prison sentence that he never earned from when he instead chose to take his life with poison. The reason is said to have been that he did not want to serve his sentence and that he was diagnosed with cancer.

In December, two years after Sutton's tragic death, the first episode of Moonshiners was released.

Popcorn Sutton's name lives on today, thanks in large part to American musician Hank Williams Jr. Hank Williams Jr. bought into a distillery that legally began producing the spirit of Popcorn Sutton's Tennessee White Whiskey. It is said that the spirit is made according to Sutton's secret recipes and is distilled using the technique that Sutton himself used in his illegal distillation of the spirit.

So a man who was a moonshiner and lived for his distillation now lives on in the best possible way.
