Twisted Sister was formed in New York in 1973 by guitarist Jay Jay French. Three years later, the band recruited singer Dee Snider, who then became the band's new front figure. Since then, the band's members have varied greatly.
The band has by order delivered several classics in heavy metal, but their image has had a large dose of glam rock. The name Twisted Sisters has come from the fact that the band's members were initially dressed in women's clothing. The band described themselves according to the motto "Look like women, talk like men and play like motherfuckers".
The band has had several breaks since its inception in 1973 and in 2016 it was decided to be the last year of the band.
