A shemagh with a sand-colored background and where black threads are woven in so that it forms the Swedish Air Force's round seal.
The shawl is made of a clean and high-quality cotton fabric.
Shemaghen is a headdress originating from the Middle East. There it has been used for many hundreds of years as protection against sun, sand, wind and dust. The shawl was practical to have wrapped like a turban around the head to then be pulled down over the face as protection.
The different color shifts of the shawl have varied in the Middle East depending on where you came from and what affiliation you had.
Today, Shemaghen does not have the same original meaning, although old traditions sometimes live on in some parts of the world.
